My name is Ethan Schulton and I'm a full stack software developer working out of Portland, Oregon. Currently, my tools of choice are Ubuntu, PostgreSQL, Python, Flask, Nginx, DigitalOcean, and AWS. I am very interested in building Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) systems in the areas of finance, machine learning, and blockchain technology, and I am willing to consider profit sharing partnerships for the development of products in these areas - especially the intersection of these areas.
I received a BA in Mathematics with departmental honors and the Conwell-Huffer prize from Beloit College in 1996. After returning to my hometown of Wichita, Kansas, and studying aerospace engineering and computer science for an additional two years, I began working for The Cessna Aircraft Co. as a software developer in their manufacturing division. During my time at Cessna, I built automation solutions for sheet metal and extrusion CNC machining using AIX, C, Fortran 90, DB2, and CATIA, garnering two Leading Edge awards.
In the fall of 2002, motivated by a desire for adventure, my wife and I moved to New York City, and, at the beginning of 2003, I started working for ScholarChip Card LLC (a very small tech company at the time) as a full stack software developer. I stayed with ScholarChip for the next 15 years, building products in the educational loan space using Oracle, .NET, and ASP/MVC.
Today I reside with my wife, Jaclyn, and two children, Phoenix and Zia, in Portland, Oregon. Although we loved our time in NYC, we have discovered since relocating in the spring of 2011 that the Pacific Northwest is a perfect fit for our family.
